In regards to the recent vote by Atlanta City Council, LaShawn M. Hoffman, candidate for Atlanta City Council District 4 issues the following statement: “Now that a tax increase has been ratified by Atlanta City Council, a full review and evaluation of the City Council 2010 budget and fiscal infrastructure is imperative. Atlanta residents deserve an open, transparent, and responsible budgeting process. With public safety an important issue, the city must recommit to fully staffing our fire and police departments. However, there are still many unanswered questions as to how this tax increase will ultimately impact the city’s fiscal health. An additional burden now exists for Atlanta tax payers, and therefore all existing resources must be optimized and leveraged. This happens through a full budget review, a committed, responsive city government, and a constant community engagement focus. If elected to office, I promise to make these goals a reality.” ### |
